About
Brice is a poet and writer living in Denver, Colorado. He writes about Denver, identity, love, and culture. He has contributed his work to The Denver Post, Boulder Weekly, Suspect Press, Stain'd, and Poets Reading The News. He has edited for Punch Drunk Press and Suspect Press, and currently acts as the Editor-In-Chief of South Broadway Press, a Denver-based book publisher.
Upon founding Punch Drunk Press, Brice published his first collection of poetry, Stupid Flowers, to outstanding local success. The book has been one of the bestselling books at Mutiny Information Cafe and was a catalyst to him publishing other poets including Blake Marcelle, Jack Buck and Varinia Rodriguez. In June of 2017, he cofounded Punketry, a monthly showcase of poets reading over psychpunk band Black Market Translation.
Brice's second collection of poetry, Hero Victim Villain was released in June of 2019 by Stubborn Mule Press, an outlet ran by Jeanette Powers out of Kansas City, Missouri. The book has been described as " a scrounging-about in parts of the mind which let loose our hearts upon the lovely little holy and immaculate moments," by author Jessica Rigney.
Josiah Hesse, author of Carnality, in response to Hero Victim Villain says "Brice Maiurro has quickly become one of the most pervasive names in the Denver literature scene. His caustic wit, emotional urgency, and lyrical wizardry are just as intoxicating at a live reading as on the printed page. Those who love the dizzying imagery of Howl or the celestial hedonism of William Blake will feel right at home with Hero Victim Villain."
